UP Rajashri Tandon Open University to open Jammu-Kashmir center

The present problems that are dominating the state of Jammu and Kashmir including that of terrorism, economic backwardness, its implication on international relation etc would be hogging the limelight at the lone Open University of the state, UP Rajashri Tandon Open University.

ALLAHABAD: The present problems that are dominating the state of Jammu and Kashmir including that of terrorism, economic backwardness, its implication on international relation etc would be hogging the limelight at the lone Open University of the state, UP Rajashri Tandon Open University.
The varsity authorities have decided to open a dedicated center for studies related to Jammu and Kashmir which would be named as Jammu and Kashmir center.

"The concept would be tabled at the next meeting of the Academic Council of the university and after getting the approval, the center would be established with the next couple of months", said the Vice Chancellor of the Open University, Prof M P Dubey.
The center would be conducting research on the issues pertaining to the state which was once the haven for tourism industry of the country but over the years, insurgency has disturbed the area which has given birth to number of problems.
The center would be holding seminars, workshops, special lectures, etc on the issues affecting the daily life of the people living in the state so that people would be getting an insight of the problems being faced by the people of the state. "We would having a dedicated library at the center which would be having literature and books on the state and its rich legacy, the strong points, the heritage, handicraft etc", said the VC.
