Teen, mom held for killing his 19-year-old pregnant wife

Bareilly: A 17-year-old boy and his mother were arrested on Friday after he killed his 19-year-old pregnant wife, suspecting her of infidelity, eight days after their marriage in the Alapur area of Budaun district.
The couple married on Jan 22, but the minor suspected his wife was having an affair. He strangled her to death, after which he and his family went missing. The bride's family accused them of murder, and police registered an FIR under relevant sections. During the investigation, police discovered the woman was two months pregnant.
Neighbours said the accused played loud music on the night of the incident to muffle any noise. Police added that the victim was a relative of the minor and that they had been in a relationship. The families agreed to the marriage after learning about the pregnancy.
Circle officer KK Tiwari said, "The accused and his mother have been arrested. Police recovered identity proof suggesting he is 17 years old, and we are verifying the details. We are questioning him while following the guidelines, and if necessary, he will be sent to a juvenile home."
