BENGALURU: A 24-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death, allegedly by her lover, in their rented house at New Mico Layout on Saturday night. He went missing after the murder and was arrested on Sunday.
The victim, Deva S, is from
Thiruvananthapuram while the accused, Vaishnav, is from Kollam in
Kerala. Police said Vaishnav, son of an army officer, suspected
Deva of having an affair with someone else.
Preliminary investigation revealed Vaishnav hit Deva's head with a cooker three times between 4pm and 4.30pm. Vaishnav had emptied rice from the cooker to a plate and then used it to hit her in the bedroom. Sustaining severe injuries, she died instantly. The tragedy came to light when Deva's sister
Krishna called on her mobile phone and requested neighbours to check on Deva.
Krishna told police the couple visited her house in the morning and were arguing repeatedly. Vaishnav claimed Deva was constantly on her phone and sending messages to somebody. Krishna tried to pacify the duo and sent them home around 1pm.
Begur police said Vaishnav confessed to have killed Deva. He claimed that despite several warnings, Deva was close to another person and was in constant touch with him.
Vaishnav and Deva met in Kerala through common friends. They fell in love and started living together three years ago. Both were involved in share market trading and marketing and used to work from home. They came to Bengaluru just one-and-a-half years ago.
