Bhopal/Jabalpur: The MP High Court granted bail to a person who allegedly cheated 21 individuals of Rs 34 lakh in the name of an agreement for the sale of a plot. The bail was granted on the condition that he would deposit half the amount allegedly defrauded from people as security with the district court in the form of an FD. The court stated that the bail order would become ineffective if the bail condition was not met.
Omprakas Anand, a resident of Rewa, in his bail application, stated that he was in jail under judicial custody since August 5, 2024. A charge sheet against him was already presented in the court. An FIR was lodged against him three and a half years after the agreement for the sale of plots was signed. His health is also deteriorating.
The govt counsel, while opposing the bail, mentioned that Anand was arrested by the police after a lot of hard work. He signed agreements for plots on a piece of land that belonged to someone else. He cheated 21 individuals of their hard-earned money to the tune of Rs 34 lakh.
The bench of Justice Pramod Agarwal, however, granted bail to Anand on the condition that he would deposit half the amount he allegedly collected from the people for providing them plots with the district court Rewa in the form of an FD. He must also adhere to all the conditions of bail as enumerated under section 480 (3) of the BNS. If he does not meet the conditions of bail, the bail order would become ineffective, the judge said.
