Chautala’s old video played at prayer meet, Abhay named heir

Hisar: The ‘rasam pagdi' and tribute meeting for OP Chautala, who served as chief minister of Haryana five times, was organised at Sahib Ram Stadium in Chautala village of Sirsa district on Tuesday. Many leaders participated and paid tribute to him.
BJP national president and Union minister JP Nadda, governor Bandaru Dattatreya, chief minister Nayab Saini, former deputy CM of Punjab Sukhbir Badal, and former finance minister Manpreet Badal were present on the occasion. At the event, Abhay, Ajay, and Ranjit Chautala sat together. Women members of the Chautala family sat separately in the meeting.
A five-minute documentary on the life of OP Chautala was shown in the meeting. At the end, an old video of OP Chautala declaring Abhay Chautala as INLD's successor was also shown. In this video, former CM OP Chautala said, "With folded hands, I request, this is Abhay Singh, I hand him over to you, strengthen his hands and make him successful. My blessings are always with him and will remain so. If he makes any kind of mistake, I will pull his ears."
Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait appealed to the whole family to unite. He said that the slogan of the govt itself is, "If you divide, you will be cut" (bantoge to katoge), so the family should come together.
Union minister and BJP national president JP Nadda said that former CM late OP Chautala was a lively person. Raising the voice of the common people fearlessly was in his veins, he said. "He always remained the voice of the hardworking, farmers, and labourers," Nadda said. He said that as the chief minister, Chautala contributed to the development of the state and played a leading role in making the state a developed state. Haryana governor Bandaru Dattatreya said that what Chautala did for water in Haryana is recorded in history. He said that when he was the urban development minister at the Centre and Omprakash Chautala was the chief minister of Haryana, during the provincial meetings of NCR, Chautala not only placed the demands of NCR province before the Centre but also got them fulfilled. In this way, he played an important role in making Haryana a leader among the NCR provinces, he said.
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said that the work of giving a new direction to the development of Haryana was done under the supervision of late Chautala. "Chaudhary Chautala's life was a symbol of struggle. Under his guidance, Haryana got a new direction in the field of development. Such a great personality lived a glorious life and gave us all a direction," the CM said.
Reading the condolence message at the end of the meeting, Abhay Chautala said that the biggest sorrow in the world is when his father's hand is lifted from his head. "That was a strong hand. He taught me to walk by holding my finger. He told me the difference between right and wrong. He taught me to stand tall in the political corridors. I am saddened by his departure, I cannot express it in words. This cannot be compensated," he said.
