Ensure timely replies to questions: LoP to Speaker

Chandigarh: Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa has urged Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to ensure that the government provides responses to all the questions posed by the MLAs.
Bajwa stressed upon the importance of upholding the principle of executive accountability to the legislature. In his letter to the speaker, Bajwa raised the issue of delay in seeking reply to starred questions converted into unstarred questions.
“I kindly urge you to issue the requisite directives for the prompt forwarding of questions to the relevant department(s), disregarding the prorogation. Such action would significantly contribute to upholding the fundamental principle of Executive accountability to the Legislature, in its truest essence,” Bajwa said. TNN
