MP Manish Tewari raises MC’s fund crisis with Parliamentary panel
Chandigarh: A parliamentary standing committee of the ministry of housing and urban affairs, comprising members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, reviewed the implementation of various programmes and flagship schemes of MoHUA in Chandigarh.
The review meeting, held on Tuesday, was attended by Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari, UT chief secretary Rajeev Verma, MC commissioner Amit Kumar and other senior officers of Chandigarh.
During the meeting, various schemes and flagship programmes, including housing and urban affairs, urban planning, Smart City, MC Chandigarh, PMAY (U), and transport, were discussed in detail. The committee noted the progress made by the different departments of Chandigarh.
The delegation also noted the progress made by the municipal corporation on different schemes, including AMRUT, PMSVANidhi, DAY-NULM, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Smart City Mission. A detailed presentation was made by the MC commissioner on waste processing management in the city and other projects being implemented by the municipal corporation Chandigarh.
During the meeting, Manish Tewari also raised various issues, including the financial crisis being faced by the Chandigarh MC.
Other senior officers of the Chandigarh administration were also present in the meeting, namely Diprava Lakra, UT finance secretary; Ajay Chagti, UT Secretary Local Govt; Pradhuman Singh, Director Transport; and other senior officers of MC, Chandigarh.
