Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday said the state had used up a “record” Rs 800 crore for building Nabard-supported rural infrastructure in the financial year 2022-23.
Review the state projects that the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development had assisted, Cheema requested
Nabard to enhance its allocation to the state for the fiscal’s new projects, making it Rs 1,500 crore in view of Punjab’s performance and rural infrastructure requirement.
He said Nabard had sanctioned new projects worth Rs 919 crore, highest amount for the state, so far.
Cheema thanked Nabard and the finance department for a high utilisation of money in the last fiscal for rural infrastructure and called for spending on even roads irrigation, water, and health.
