Sanitary inspector takes ‘bribe’from ragpicker

Chandigarh: The Punjab vigilance bureau on Thursday caught sanitary inspector Jatinder Vij, posted at zone-D of Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC), red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a ragpicker. Vij has been arrested on the complaint of Mahi Ram of Tower Colony near Grain market in Ludhiana, who belongs to Hindbathi village of Damo district in Madhya Pradesh originally.The man gathered scrap from the garbage dump near the Ludhiana bus stand, and the inspector wanted a “monthly cut of Rs 15,000”.
