Boy electrocuted in Chennai while checking tanker water level in Chennai
CHENNAI: A 16-year-old boy was electrocuted as he came in contact with an overhead power cable while standing on a tanker truck to check water level.
The deceased boy has been identified as S Hariharan, who was a Class XI student at a private school in Kovilambakkam. His father is into water supply business.
On Wednesday evening, a tanker truck from his father’s company went to supply water in Kumaran Nagar near Sholinganallur. Hariharan accompanied the truck driver. As the water was being supplied to a house there, the driver asked Hariharan to check the water level in the tanker.
Hariharan climbed on the tanker. When he opened the lid of the tanker, he came in contact with an overhead power cable and suffered an electric shock. He fell on the ground. He was rushed to a govt hospital where he was declared dead.
The Semmencherry police sent the body for postmortem. They registered a case.
