Manipur man held for selling drug tablets

Chennai: A man from Manipur was arrested by the Sastri Nagar police on charges of possessing narcotic drug tablets on Sunday. The police team recovered 125 drug tablets from him.
Police said Hamjamuwan, 25, stayed at a rented house on Ellaiamman Koil Street in Sastri Nagar. Based on a specific tip-off, a police team led by the Thiruvanmiyur inspector Mohammad Buhari maintained surveillance at Elliots Beach in Besant Nagar. The officers intercepted the suspect, as he was seen meeting youngsters and exchanging some packets with them.
Inquiries revealed that he placed the order through online portals and bought the drug tablets. Later, he sold them in the city. Hamjamuwan was remanded in judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate court in the city.
