Three men get 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for gang-raping woman in TN

VILLUPURAM: A special court for SC/ST Act cases in Villupuram has sentenced three men to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for gang-raping a 33-year-old woman in 2017. Sessions judge A Packia Jothi has imposed a fine of Rs 1.2 lakh on each of the convicts.
According to the prosecution, the woman from Tiruvannamalai district visited her relative’s house in the Villupuram district on August 25, 2017.While walking alone in Gandhi Bazaar, she was abducted by R Ranjith Kumar, 27, of Madha Koil Street, M Durai, 30, of Gingee Sankarapuram Colony and K Gubern, 32, of Sirugadampur. They took her to a secluded place near a commercial complex and took turns raping her.
Following a complaint by the woman’s relative, the Gingee police arrested the three men.
