Cops suspect students’ involvement in throwing human faeces in Tirupur govt school classroom
Tirupur: A week after human faeces was found inside a classroom in govt high school at Kamanaickenpalayam near Palladam, Tirupur rural police suspect that a few students from the school could have done the mischievous act.
According to police, teachers locked the classrooms and school gates after working hours last Monday. When the classrooms were reopened on Tuesday morning, teachers were shocked to find human faeces smeared on the walls and benches of Class 10 room. The school authorities immediately alerted the Kamanaickenpalayam police, who arrived at the scene and began an inquiry. Local sanitation workers were called in to clean the classroom.
Police officials noted that there were no CCTV cameras on the school campus. The school compound wall is only about five feet high, making it easy for students in the area to enter the premises after school hours.
"We suspect that a few students who frequently visit the school in the late evening hours to play may be responsible for the act. We inquired with the teachers. We are refraining from inquiring students, which may lead to untoward incidents," a police officer said.
As a preventive measure, police, with sponsorship, have decided to install CCTV cameras on the school premises. Additionally, lights have been fixed on the campus to improve visibility at night, the officer added.
