CUTTACK: The
Orissa high court on Friday issued notices to the chairperson, National Testing Agency (NTA), chairperson of National Medical Commission and chairperson, Medical Counselling Committee, over the alleged wrong marks given to a candidate from the state who appeared for the NEET (UG)-2023 on May 7.
The notices were issued on a petition which Rishi Raj Dash of Gania in Nayagarh district had filed after the NTA through an email on July 12 informed him that he had secured 76 marks for the 176 questions he had attempted, of which 51 were correct and 128 were wrong.
The NEET question paper carries a maximum of 720 marks for 180 questions with each question carrying four marks.
When the petition was taken up for hearing on Friday, advocate Rajib Rath appearing on behalf of Rishi submitted that after tallying his answer sheet along with the answer key provided online by the NTA it was found that he had answered 174 questions correctly.
Therefore, he should have been selected, making him eligible for top medical institutions in the country for MBBS course, Rath submitted, while seeking the court's intervention against the technical error for which he was not selected.
