NEW DELHI: Police arrested a Haryana-based agent for arranging a fake passport for a female passenger's journey to Canada.
The accused has been identified as Gaurab Juneja.
Police stated that the incident unfolded on January 10, when the passenger,
Aman, a resident of Punjab, arrived at IGI Airport with a passport issued in the name of Daljit Kaur.
However, during scrutiny of her travel documents, the photograph on the passport did not match Aman's, exposing her intention to travel using someone else's passport.
Aman was arrested, and during interrogation, she revealed that she had approached Juneja, who had promised to arrange her illegal journey to Canada for Rs 20 lakh.
Juneja arranged a fake passport and ticket for Aman, who paid him Rs 2 lakh upfront.
A team was formed and tracked down Juneja to his hideout in Kurukshetra,
Haryana, where he was arrested. Juneja confessed to his crimes, revealing that he worked with other agents to dupe individuals seeking foreign travel and job opportunities.
"Passengers are advised to procure travel documentation only through authorised agencies and verify all documents to avoid legal complications and travel disruptions," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Usha Rangnani.
