Erode east constituency bypoll scheduled for February 5, announces Election Commission

CHENNAI: The Election Commission on Tuesday announced a bypoll for the Erode East constituency on February 5. The counting of votes will be on February 8.
Chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the bypoll in Delhi. The notification will be gazetted on January 10.
The last date for filing nominations is January 17, and the scrutiny of papers will take place on January 18. The date for the withdrawal of candidature is January 20.
The bypoll to the constituency is necessitated by the demise of former Union minister and Congress leader, EVKS Elangovan, on December 14.
