6 injured in car collision on NH-2 while heading to Maha Kumbh

Six pilgrims were injured in a collision between two cars on NH-2 near Gurukul while traveling to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The injured included residents of Kanpur and Gurugram. Champa Hazarika, one of the victims, was transferred to the district hospital due to her serious condition.

NEW DELHI: Six pilgrims en route to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj were on Monday injured when two cars collided on national highway-2, police said.
According to Circle Officer Awadhesh Kumar Vishwakarma of Sirathu the collision took place near Gurukul on NH-2 when a vehicle travelling from Kanpur to Prayagraj crashed into another car during an overtaking manoeuvre.
The casualties included four Kanpur residents from Jajmau - Champa Hazarika, Meenakshi Hazarika, Aparna Hazarika, and Arun Hazarika - along with two Gurugram, Haryana residents - Naveen Yadav and Nishant.
The accident resulted in substantial damage to both automobiles.
All injured persons were taken to a community health centre in Sirathu for treatment.
Due to her serious condition, Champa Hazarika was subsequently transferred to the district hospital.
