Bus, air fares to B’luru from Goa soar 3 times for R-Day weekend
Panaji: As the Republic Day weekend approaches, though flight fares have remained stable on most routes to and from Goa, on a few routes the airfare has even tripled. The airfare on the Goa to Bengaluru route on Jan 26 has shot up to nearly Rs 10,000, as against the usual fare of Rs 2,900 on the route.
Similarly, the airfare has doubled on the Goa to Mumbai route for Jan 26 to almost Rs 6,500, which is two times the regular fare of around Rs 3,235.
It will also cost nearly Rs 9,500 to fly from Goa back to New Delhi post the holiday weekend, which is much higher than the normal fare on the route of around Rs 5,740.
However, the fare to fly into Goa ahead of the weekend on Jan 24 has only gone up slightly. For instance, the Bengaluru to Goa airfare is Rs 6,350 on Friday.
The flight ticket prices to and from Goa to most other metros have surprisingly remained unchanged for the weekend as of now.
The airfares will cost only marginally higher, for instance, to fly from Goa to Pune on Jan 26 at Rs 5,631, which is only nominally up from the usual air fare of Rs 3,865.
When it comes to bus tickets too, the fare appears to have shot up for the weekend only on the Goa-Bengaluru route. A sleeper bus ticket for an air-conditioned vehicle on Jan 26 costs from Rs 2,900 to Rs 3,500. To travel from Bengaluru to Goa on Jan 24 by an AC sleeper bus will also similarly be expensive with tickets priced between Rs 2,200 to Rs 3,000, except the Kadamba Transport Corporation buses which are available at subsidised cost of Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,500.
