GURGAON: A 24-year-old security guard was shot in the head by her estranged friend on Saturday near a park in Sector 37, while she was on her way to work. Several commuters called the police and took her to a govt hospital in Sector 10. She was later referred to Safdarjung hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

A case was registered under section 101 (murder), 61 (criminal conspiracy) of BNS and sections of the Arms Act at Sector 10 police station. The accused, Upender Kumar (23), was arrested the same day from Gurgaon, inspector Rambir Singh said.
Radha lived with her husband and two daughters in Kishanpur village in UP's Auraiya district. Radha and Kumar were teachers at a tuition centre.
With time, her husband grew suspicious of their friendship, and as their conflicts escalated, she subsequently to Gurgaon with her father and her daughters two years ago.Kumar followed her and kept pressuring her to marry him. Radha kept dodging his calls, and later blocked his number.
On Friday, she was on her way to work when Kumar confronted her near a park in Sector 37 and forced her to marry him yet again. When she refused and tried to move away, Kumar pulled out a gun and shot her in the head before fleeing.
The police are trying to trace the murder weapon. "Further investigation into the case is underway," inspector Rambir Singh said.
