Bangla Sahitya Sabha closing ceremony held
Silchar: The closing ceremony of the three-day 2nd biennial convention of Bangla Sahitya Sabha, Assam, was held at Gandhi Bagh Park here on Thursday. It was a blend of formal proceedings and cultural celebrations.
The closing ceremony was graced by minister Kaushik Rai (chief guest), Smriti Kumar Sinha, VC of Pragjyotishpur University, Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya, MLAs Dipayan Chakraborty, Nihar Ranjan Das and Mihir Kanti Shome, Khagen Chandra Das, president, Bangla Sahitya Sabha, Prashanta Chakraborty, general secretary, state committee of Bangla Sahitya Sabha, and Nihar Ranjan Paul, president of the reception committee.
Rai praised the organisers for successfully conducting the convention, with special recognition for the Bangla Sahitya Sabha's efforts to strengthen ties between the people of the Brahmaputra and Barak valleys. "I am thankful to the committee members for their efforts. It is encouraging to see representatives from both valleys in the committee. I am hopeful that the Sabha will continue its activities," he said. He also urged everyone to respect all languages and communities.
Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty described the convention as a memorable and remarkable event. Dr Prasanta Chakraborty said, "We will carry on with our activities. It is truly heartening to witness the active participation of people in the convention. Hopefully, this event has helped strengthen the bond of friendship between Brahmaputra and Barak valleys."
He also highlighted the contributions of language martyrs and some prominent literary figures from Assam.
