DIBRUGARH: A team of West Bengal Police is set to reach Dibrugarh to exhume the body of IIT Kharagpur student from Assam, Faizan Ahmed, for a second post-mortem examination, following a Calcutta high court directive.
Dibrugarh additional SP (headquarters) Bitul Chetia on Sunday said, "Neither has the team arrived nor has it communicated with us so far. We are expecting it to be here any time soon.

It is most likely to get in touch with us tomorrow morning. We will provide all possible help to the team and ensure that the high court order is carried out in the right spirit. At this moment, we are not aware whether it will be a CID team or a police team."
On April 25, the Calcutta HC passed a rare order calling for the exhumation of Faizan from a burial ground in Assam to conduct a second post-mortem at the Medical College and Hospital, Calcutta, saying that it is necessary to ascertain the truth behind his death. Faizan belonged to Assam's Tinsukia and his body was buried at the Amolapatty Kabarstan (burial ground) in Dibrugarh town.
Twenty-three-year-old Faizan was a third-year mechanical engineering student at IIT Kharagpur. On October 14 last year, his decomposed body was found in room number C-205 of the Lala Lajpat Rai Hall of Residence (hostel) of IIT Kharagpur in West Bengal's West Midnapore district.
The college administration said the student died by suicide while the family claimed that he was murdered. Faizan's parents filed a writ petition in Calcutta HC, alleging that their son had been murdered.
Talking to the media in Dibrugarh, Faizan's mother Rehana Ahmed on Sunday said, "I see a ray of hope that Faizan will get justice. My son was murdered. He was not a coward who would kill himself."
