Agartala: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha on Wednesday said the recently concluded 72nd NEC plenary, chaired by Union home minister
Amit Shah, had an elaborate discussion on border management issues and internal security due to the ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh.
"After thorough discussions, he issued necessary advisories for the security forces and the respective state govts. The situation in Bangladesh has a definite impact on its Indian bordering states Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, and West Bengal, which was also highlighted in the meeting," Saha said.
The CM said, "The home minister reiterated the stand of zero tolerance to drug abuse in Northeastern states and reminded the states to be more stringent against drug users, peddlers, and traders to make the mission drug-free northeast."
Responding to a letter from state Congress president Ashis Kumar Saha seeking clarity on the tangible benefits of the NEC meeting, the CM said, "The CMs and governors of all northeastern states witnessed the potential and opportunities of Tripura and learned about the culture, heritage, tourism, and trade prospects of the state, which will certainly yield positive results."
Saha alleged that Congress has been engaging in negative politics for a long time and always tries to confuse the people. He said, "They must measure the scale of development in Tripura since the BJP-led govt was established in 2018, which had been a distant dream during the 25 years of communist rule. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reintroduced Tripura to the world by developing communication means, infrastructure, and export business."
He accused Congress of humiliating the architect of the Indian constitution, BR Ambedkar.
The party has been rejected by the people in every election held in the country over the past decade. Congress tried to ‘murder' the Constitution by amending it 90 times during its regime.
