Manik Saha thanks Centre for approving Rs 98cr for 51 Shakti Peethas in Tripura’s Gomati dist
Agartala: Tripura CM Manik Saha Wednesday thanked the Centre for approving Rs 97.7 crore for the development of 51 Shakti Peetha parks at Banduar in Gomati district near Tripura Sundari temple, which is one of them, along with 39 other projects.
Saha said this is part of the Rs 3,295 crore that the Centre has granted for a project to develop places of tourist attraction in 23 states.
He said the site for the development of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Banduar, a quaint village in Udaipur, was mooted after the BJP-led-govt came to power in the state in 2018.
The Tripura Sundari temple, built by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 1501 AD, attracts devotees from across the country.
The above-mentioned project envisages developing a replica of 51 Shakti Peethas from across the Indian subcontinent, symbolising the rich cultural and spiritual heritage associated with Shakti (Devi) worship in Hindu mythology along with other facilities to attract tourists.
