Mizos divided by int’l, interstate boundaries will be united under single admn: MZP
Aizawl: The apex Mizo student body of the state is optimistic that all ethnic Mizos living in contiguous areas in India's northeastern states (Mizoram, Assam, Manipur and Tripura), Myanmar and Bangladesh, divided by boundaries at present, will be united under a single administration some day.
Mizo Zirlai Pawl Thursday organised "Pûm titi" or discussion on the theme of the ongoing ‘Zofest' at West Phaileng bordering Bangladesh on the sidelines of the festival in which the reunification of the Mizos occupied centrestage.
‘Zofa' (ethnic Mizos) divided into India, Burma (Myanmar) and Bangladesh are blood brothers, having the same ancestry and affinity as well as practising the same culture and tradition, following the same religion, the resolution adopted during the deliberations said.
"Though we are divided by international and interstate borders, we have to remember that we are one," it emphasised.
The resolution urged all the ethnic Mizos living in the three countries to be good citizens and respect the laws of the land. The discussion, in which delegates from Myanmar, Bangladesh and the four NE states in India took part, expressed support to MZP's efforts in striving for unity for the ‘Zofa'.
‘Zofest', which began on Tuesday, will conclude on Friday night.
