Addressing reporters, Das said, "We are pleased to inform you that in Majuli all 156 criminal cases, registered in 2024, were cleared up by December 31. Currently, we have zero pending cases."
For the second consecutive year, Majuli has managed to dispose off all criminal cases within the calendar year. In 2023 the district had recorded a clean slate, clearing all 276 cases within the year.
Das attributed the success to the dedication of the police force. "Our officers and personnel work very hard. It's their efficiency which has made this possible and I thank them for that," he said.
A renowned spiritual centre and popular for its Satras (Vaishnavite monasteries), the low crime rate in Majuli has been attributed to the the peaceful nature of its residents, effective policing and its exceptional law enforcement record.
