Belagavi: Belagavi celebrated Republic Day in a truly unique and memorable way this year as TOI organised its much-loved Happy Streets event on Mahatma Phule Road. The one-side closure of the road early in the morning turned a usually bustling traffic zone into a vibrant hub of joy, fitness, and community bonding. Families, friends, and individuals of all ages gathered to participate in an array of fun-filled activities, creating a lively and patriotic atmosphere.
Sponsored by Bhima Gold, the event was a perfect blend of celebration, recreation, and wellness, leaving the city with unforgettable memories.
It was the second event of Happy Streets in a row of three Sundays.
Residents of Belagavi arrived in large numbers at Mahatma Phule Road, eager to kickstart the fun and fitness-blended activities. From young children to senior citizens, participants from all walks of life were spotted enjoying the activities curated specially for the occasion.
The event featured a range of activities catering to all age groups, including dance, yoga, hula-hooping, and engaging games for kids. The road, usually filled with honking vehicles, resonated with laughter, music, and cheers. People, including kids and youths, danced with the instructors of MJ Dance Fitness to various Bollywood and patriotic songs.
Yoga instructors from Art of Living led participants through invigorating stretches and poses, emphasising the importance of mindfulness and health.
The event featured dedicated zones for children, making it a perfect outing for families. Kids were seen flocking to life-sized versions of classic games like Snake and Ladder, while others unleashed their creativity in drawing and painting activities organised by Studio Tarang. A carrom corner drew in both young participants and nostalgic adults, creating a space for friendly competition and bonding. Parents, too, appreciated the efforts to keep kids entertained.
Participants thanked TOI for organising the event. Artistic and learning activities by Tarang Hobby Studio, fitness activities by United Sports and Fitness Academy, a school of martial arts and physical fitness, football, skipping, tug of war, live sketch making by artist Parashuram, boxing training, and many more were part of the event.
The Happy Streets event of the TOI was presented by Bheema Gold, co-sponsored by Shodha Toyota with partners - The Art of Living, MJ Dance and Fitness, Midori, Happy Pets, Studio Tarang, Veeru's Academy, United Sports and Fitness Academy (USFA), and Persistent Sports.
