Income Tax department conducts raids on prominent businessmen in Belagavi

In a surprise operation, officials from the Karnataka and Goa Income Tax Commissionerate raided the homes and offices of four leading businessmen in Belagavi on Tuesday. These include the Doddannavar family, industrialist Ashok Humbarwadi, and businessman Ajit Patel. Authorities are currently examining the seized documents.

BELAGAVI: The sleuths of the Income Tax (IT) Commissionerate of Karnataka and Goa conducted surprise raids on the residences and offices of four prominent businessmen in Belagavi city in the early hours of Tuesday.
The IT sleuths raided the properties of businessmen Vinod Doddannavar and Pushpadant Doddannavar, the residence of industrialist Ashok Humbarwadi in Ganeshpur, and the residence of another businessman, Ajit Patel, in the Camp area.
The Doddannavar family is involved in domestic and international businesses of sugar, iron, and granite. The family is also associated with educational institutions and two sugar industries in Kagawad taluk.
Ashok Humbarwadi owns Ashok Iron Works Ltd, one of the largest foundry groups in the world, operating services at a global level. Ajit Patel is also one of the prominent businessmen in Belagavi. Some local police officials accompanied the IT officials.
The officials are examining the documents at the locations where the raids were conducted. Local police have provided security to them. The IT Department is yet to issue a press release.
