‘1L enumerators trained for survey’
Hyderabad: Sandeep Sultania, the planning department principal secretary said on Sunday that the success of the caste survey was largely due to careful planning, training, and thorough house listing. Speaking to reporters following the submission of the survey report, he explained that over 1,03,000 enumerators were trained in phases, and preliminary house listings helped the govt complete the survey efficiently.
He noted that households were organized into blocks of 150, with the same division applied to apartment complexes with over 400 flats. Prior to the survey, all households were listed, ensuring any missing ones were identified. The state was treated as one large block, divided into 94,261 enumeration blocks.
Sultania also highlighted the training of enumerators, supported by 9,628 supervisors. "We also conducted a detailed pilot study in four districts to gauge public response to the survey," he added.
He emphasized the detailed planning of the final questionnaire, which included specific codes for each question, enabling enumerators to collect data without extensive note-taking.
