Sumesh, who’s currently living in Rajahmundry town of Andhra Pradesh, would buy MDMA from Shablin for Rs 5000 per gram and sell it at a premium. He was caught when he came to the city to deliver contraband to clients.
SOT inspector A Sudhakar said, Sumesh was earlier involved in two NDPS Act cases registered with Vanasthalipuram police in 2021 and Thurunelly police in Kerala in 2015. Both cases were related to drug peddling.
As per police records, Sumesh has been procuring ganja from suppliers on Andhra-Odisha border and supplying it to customers in Kerala and Hyderabad. In 2021, he was arrested with his associates while transporting 240kg ganja and remanded in judicial custody. Subsequently, he was detained in Cherlapally central prison under PD Act.
In November 2022, he was released from Cherlapally Jail and started staying at Rajahmundry. To make fast buck, Sumesh decided to sell synthetic drugs and contacted his friend, Adhuu Shalbin, of Bengaluru for supplying drugs in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, police said. The accused was produced in court and sent to judicial custody on Friday.
