Lendi project by ’26, says Uttam
Hyderabad: Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday said the Telangana govt is keen on completing the interstate Lendi project by 2026.
"If the Lendi project, which started in 1984 at an estimated cost of 2,183 crore at Muked taluka in Nanded district of Maharashtra, is completed, 38,573 acres in Telangana and 27,710 acres in Maharashtra will come under irrigation," the minister said at a review meeting on the Lendi project at the secretariat on Thursday.
A delegation from Maharashtra, including Nanded MP Ravindra Chavan (Congress), along with a group of Maharashtra Congress representatives participated in the meeting. According to existing agreement, 1,040 crore (approx) has been spent on the project so far. Work on the project was halted in 2011 due to objections from displaced persons. tnn
