Telangana minister Sridhar Babu calls for fair union budget allocation
Hyderabad: Telangana IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Friday said Telangana made significant contributions to India's economy, and it's time for the Union govt to reciprocate with proper budgetary support and also keep the promises made during bifurcation.
"Telangana plays a strategic role in India's growth story, and we expect this year's Union Budget to be pro-Telangana," Sridhar Babu said, seeking increased budgetary allocation for Telangana across sectors, including education, IT, industries, medical and health, panchayat raj, among others.
He pointed out that with eight BJP MPs representing Telangana in Parliament, including two Union ministers, there should be a strong push for securing adequate funds for the state. "We expect our BJP parliamentarians to voice Telangana's concerns and ensure better fund allocation," he said.
Emphasising the need to resolve the pending issues related to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act's implementation, he called for its execution in true spirit and highlighted the need for establishing promised institutions and allocation of funds as per the Act's provisions.
The minister also drew attention to pending railway projects in the state, requesting higher allocations in this sector. "There are numerous demands pending before the Union govt for a long time. We hope this budget addresses these concerns and provides fair treatment to Telangana," Sridhar Babu concluded.
