Winter on its last legs as temp begins to rise in state
Hyderabad: Telangana is witnessing the last stretch of winter as temperatures continue to climb, surpassing 35⁰ Celsius in several districts. Hyderabad, which typically records milder temperatures compared to districts, has also seen the mercury rise to 34.5⁰ Celsius.
According to the latest meteorological data from the Telangana Development Planning Society, Adilabad recorded the highest maximum temperature at 36⁰ Celsius, closely followed by Sangareddy, Jagtial, Rangareddy, Kamareddy and Vikarabad, all touching 35.9⁰ Celsius. Other districts with high temperatures include Nalgonda, Kumaram Bheem, Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar, all recording 35.8⁰ Celsius.
Weather experts predicted a further rise in daytime temperatures in the coming days, with night temperatures hovering between 15⁰ Celsius and 18⁰ Celsius. There is also a possibility of sporadic rainfall.
"With Feb beginning on a hotter note, people should brace for warmer days ahead as Telangana slowly moves out of winter and into pre-summer conditions," said an official from India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Mahesh Palawat from Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, added: "As of now, dry conditions are expected to persist, with warm and humid weather dominating the state."
Experts indicated that northwesterly winds will influence Telangana's weather from Feb 6, keeping the region dry with no significant rainfall expected for at least a week. "Meanwhile, minimum temperatures are likely to increase slightly, further signalling transition towards summer," Palawat added.
