Four militants held for extortion in Manipur

In Imphal, police have arrested four militants from different groups involved in extortion activities over the last 24 hours. The individuals had been collecting money from civilians, government staff, and local businesses. Various items including weapons, mobile phones, and personal identification documents were seized during these operations.

IMPHAL: Four militants from different insurgent groups involved in extortion activities have been arrested in separate operations in the last 24 hours.
Police arrested two KCP members, Ningthoujam Jupiter Singh, alias Bungcha (27), and Sorokhaibam Amarjit Singh, alias Halakpa Khuman, (28) from Mahabali under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East. According to police, these individuals were actively collecting money from civilians, govt staff, local businesses and others across greater Imphal region.
Officials recovered one M20 pistol with five live rounds, a two-wheeler vehicle, one sling bag and two mobile phones from them.
In a separate operation, police arrested Lourembam Mani Singh, alias Lurengamba, alias Manimukta (46), an active UNLF member, from Takyel Kolom Leikai under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West. Reports indicate his involvement in collecting illegal funds from various govt establishments in Imphal. Officials seized a mobile phone, a two-wheeler, black wallet containing an Aadhaar card and Rs 4,270 in cash.
Additionally, authorities arrested PLA member Pukhrambam Prem Singh, alias Hopson (47), from Ningthoukhong ITI road, Ward No. 13 in Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur district.
Reports suggest his involvement in collecting illegal funds from civilians, traders and government officials across Nambol, Bishnupur and Ningthoukhong areas. Police recovered three mobile phones, a wallet containing a PAN card, an Aadhaar card and additional documents from him.
