Poppy plantation on 90 acres destroyed: Manipur CM N Biren Singh

Manipur's Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced a successful operation against illegal poppy cultivation in Ukhrul district. On Thursday, security forces and forest department personnel cleared 90 acres of poppy plants and burned 12 huts. The mission is part of the War on Drugs campaign, spearheaded by combined forces. An FIR has been filed for further investigation.

IMPHAL: N Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur, announced that security forces and forest department personnel conducted a successful operation to eliminate poppy cultivation across 90 acres in Ukhrul district.
The operation was executed on Thursday, targeting unauthorised poppy cultivation in the hilly terrain of the region.

"In another successful mission under the War on Drugs campaign, combined forces of Ukhrul district police, 6 MR, 18 AR and Forest Department destroyed 90 acres of poppy plantation and burned down 12 huts in the Phalee hill range under Lungchong Maiphei (LM) Police Station in Ukhrul district," the CM said in a post on X.
"An FIR has been registered for further investigation. I applaud the combined forces for the swift and coordinated measures," Singh added.
