JAISALMER: In a joint operation on Wednesday late night, the Border Security Force (BSF) and police recovered 12kg
heroin and arrested 3 smugglers of Lawrence Bishnoi gang near the international border adjoining Raisinghnagar in Sriganganagar.
In another incident, around 37 kg heroin was caught at Fazilka in Punjab which was also collected from the Sriganganagar border by the smugglers. The local police arrested 3 smugglers involved in the matter and handed them over to Fazilka police. Police said both the consignments were dropped through drones from Pakistan at Sriganganagr border areas,
Confirming the incidents, Sriganganagar SP Paris Deshmukh said police caught 3 smugglers who have been identified as Punit Kumar, a resident of Rawatsar in Sriganganagar, Surendra Kumar, a resident of Bij Bayla and Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Amritsar in Punjab. They are being intensively inquired and a search campaign has been launched in the entire area.
In the inquiry it has come to light that the smuggling racket was run by Sunil Yadav aka Golu, who is a member of Lawrence gang. Yadav in 2017 along with Ankit Bhadu had murdered Pankaj Soni. Police said Lawrence will also be inquired in this regard.
Deshmukh said that 37 kg heroin was also dropped in Srigangagar district, which was seized by Fazilka police on our information. The arrested in the case have been identified as Trilok Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Baldev Singh, who were handed over to Fazilka police. Meanwhile Jaisalmer police conducted a search operation at the residence of the smuggler, who was caught with 9 kg heroin three days ago, in the Myazlar area but the remaining quantity of heroin could not be recovered.
Crime branch DIG Rahul Prakash who is camping in Jaisalmer said on Thursday, "A wide search campaign is on to recover the remaining consignment of the heroin and a search was conducted at the house of the main smuggler Madhav Singh in Myazlar area but nothing was found. Many people are being enquired and 2-3 suspects associated with Madho Singh are absconding and search is on."
