The problem started with a dispute between the elected representatives and the deputy commissioner over a file meant for approval of the deployment of beat sanitation workers in different wards of JMC - H. The mayor and the councillors alleged that Verma had held up the file for the past 17 days, did not attend repeated calls from the mayor, and forced the councillors out of his room when they went to meet him for a discussion.
"The kind of indecent language the additional commissioner used is intolerable. We had written to the chief minister with a demand to suspend Verma. Since no steps were taken yet, we decided to tender our resignations," said Munesh Gurjar.
