JAIPUR: A partially burnt body of a woman, aged between 35 and 40 years, was found near the railway tracks in Bhatesari area under Kanota police station Sunday, indicating murder and an attempt to conceal her identity. The upper part of the body seems deliberately set on fire, and there are injury marks on the head too, the police said.
"A passerby spotted the body and informed the police around 7am," SHO Himmat Singh said. A team from the Kanota police station rushed to the spot. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was called in to collect evidence.
According to preliminary findings by the police and FSL teams, the upper portion of the woman's body has been deliberately burnt, suggesting an attempt to erase any identifiable features.
Investigators suspect the murder took place elsewhere, and the body was later dumped and set on fire at this spot.
Police are reviewing recent missing person reports in an effort to establish the victim's identity. "The woman's photo is also being circulated at nearby police stations based on her physical attributes. We are also gathering information about missing persons to aid in identification," Singh said.
