JAIPUR: The government of
Rajasthan on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the city of Aarhus, Denmark. The
MoU was signed for an exchange programme named ‘Cooperation in the field of Sustainable Urban Water Sector Development’.
Under this project, Rajasthan and Denmark will cooperate with each other for quality in urban drinking water sector, reduction in non-revenue water (sewage) by increasing efficiency of distribution mechanism, coordinated management of water sources, ground water aquifer mapping, planning and recycling of wastewater management, green solutions for rejuvenation of rivers etc.
Commenting on the occasion, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) minister
Mahesh Joshi stated, the initiative of mutual cooperation between Denmark and Rajasthan in various fields started in March, 2021.
“The state government is working with commitment for efficient management of drinking water in the state. Through various urban areas schemes, work is being done in development of water sources, strengthening of drinking water distribution system, reducing wastage of drinking water. With this MoU, new dimensions are being established in the field of drinking water management in the state,” said Joshi.
Thanking chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Danish ambassador Freddy Svane said that there is a strategic partnership between Denmark and India. “This positive partnership would continue in future. We will make positive efforts to maintain long-term mutual co-operation with Rajasthan,” he stated.
The MoU was signed by Subodh Agarwal - additional chief secretary, PHED on behalf of the state government, while director-planning, Louise Pepe, digitally signed on behalf of Aarhus (Denmark). This MoU will be effective till 2030.
