Raj to open over 2k govt-aided English medium schools soon

JAIPUR: The state government will open over 2,000 government-aided English medium schools, education minister BD Kalla stated during a government event on Friday.
“Due to the continuous initiative, efforts and educational innovations by the state government, the quality of government schools is continuously improving. The government has opened about 2,700 English medium schools.We will open 2,000 more such schools,” said Kalla.
During the event, Kalla conducted online lottery to admit students under the Right To Education (RTE) scheme—in 32,722 non-government schools. Under this scheme, 25% seats are allotted under RTE scheme for students of pre-primary to Class-1 in these private schools. The fee is reimbursed by the state.
“Parents can see school-wise priority list issued by the lottery by clicking on the link of ‘Preference List’ on the home page of the private school portal https://rajpsp.nic.in, Since 2012-2013, more than nine lakh students of the state directly benefitted from this scheme,” stated a government press release.
Reacting to the lottery, members of guardians’ associations stated that only a section of the students would be able to avail this scheme.
“The government had conducted lottery for around 2 lakh seats at 37,354 non-government schools. However, number of students who applied for this scheme is more than the number of seats, said Abhishek Jain Bittu, spokesperson of United Guardian Association, Rajasthan.
