JAIPUR: Two labourers were killed when a portion of a mine collapsed in Tonk on Saturday.
The mine owner has promised to give a compensation of Rs 15 lakh to the kin of each of the labourers.
According to police, the incident took place at 8am when labourers were working at the mines of feldspar quartz stone.
"Suddenly, a portion of the mines caved in in which Sheru Khan (28), Devlal (26) got trapped under the boulders.

Their fellow labourers bailed them out and they were rushed to the hospital where they succumbed," said a senior officer of Mehandwas police station on Saturday.
Later, family members of the deceased reached at the hospital and demanded a compensation.
They declared until they are not given an appropriate compensation, they will not give their consent for the post-mortem.
"The lease owner of the mine was called and he promised a compensation of Rs 15 lakh each to the families of the deceased. At 1 pm, the family agreed for post-mortem," the officer added.
Police added that both the labourers were working at the mines for the past three years and were unmarried.
Police also informed the mines department and a team of mines department also visited the spot.
"The mine has a depth of 60 feet and it is spread in an area of 25 hectare. The lease owner has the lease for the past 30 years. The officials of the mines department have said that they will investigate and do an enquiry on the accident. They will check if the lease owner had applied all the safety measures," the officer added.
