KOTA: Infuriated by his wife's refusal to return home following dispute, a 38-year-old man stabbed his 62-year-old maternal father-in-law to death at the latter's residence in Keshoraipatan town, Bundi district, early Sunday morning before absconding from the scene.
The deceased was identified as Kallu Khan (62), resident of Kacchi Basti in Keshoraipatan town in Bundi district, while the accused was identified as Shahazad (38), son of Chand Mohammed, resident of Kishangarh in Ajmer district of the state.
According to preliminary investigations, a dispute persisted between accused Shahazad and his wife, who had been residing separately at her maternal uncle's (Mama's) home in Keshoraipatan for three months, whilst Shahazad was adamant about her return to his home in Kishangarh, circle inspector at Keshoraipatan police station Hansraj Meena informed TOI on Sunday morning.
The incident transpired early Sunday morning at approximately 5 am when Shahazad allegedly arrived at his wife's maternal uncle's residence to retrieve her to his home, and his maternal father-in-law informed him that she was absent, having gone to another maternal uncle's (Mama's) home in Kota.
Enraged by the response and his wife's absence, Shahazad launched multiple knife attacks on his maternal father-in-law Kallu Khan before fleeing the scene, the C.I. stated.
Kallu Khan sustained 3-4 injuries, including a critical wound to his stomach, and was rushed to hospital in Kota, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the accused whilst post-mortem examination continues, after which the body shall be released to family members.
