JAMMU: Nine people, including four from
Rajasthan and three from
Uttar Pradesh, were identified as the victims of the deadly terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in
Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. The attack occurred around 6.10 pm on Sunday when terrorists opened fire at the bus, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge near Teryath village in the Poni area.
Among the victims were the bus driver Vijay Kumar from Dasanoo Rajbagh village and conductor Arun Kumar from Kandera village in Katra, both in Reasi district.
The other victims from Rajasthan were identified as Rajinder Prasad Pandey Sawhney, Mamta Sawhney, Pooja Sawhney and her two-year-old son Titu Sawhney, all residents of Jaipur, while those from Uttar Pradesh were Shivam Gupta, Ruby and 14-year-old Anurag Verma.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Reasi) Vishesh Paul Mahajan, 41 people aged between three and 50 were injured in the attack, with 10 suffering from gunshot wounds but in stable condition after undergoing surgeries.
The injured are receiving treatment at various hospitals, with 18 at the Government Medical College in Jammu, 14 at Narayana Hospital, and nine at the district hospital in Reasi.
Among the injured, 34 are from Uttar Pradesh, five from Delhi, and two from Rajasthan. The district administration is arranging for the transportation of the bodies to their respective states.
