JODHPUR: Jalore police arrested six persons on Tuesday after a video of beating a man and forcing him to drink urine went viral in Sachore subdivision of the district on Monday. Police have also filed a case in the matter.
According to police, the victim, who is married, had allegedly come to meet a girl in a nearby village Bhadwal on Sunday night, where he was caught by villagers and family members of the girl and beaten up brutally after tying him with a tree until he fell unconscious.
Following information, the man's family members also reached the spot and pleaded to spare him but the villagers not only beat him up, but also forced him to drink by pushing a bottle in his mouth before letting him off with a warning. His family members then took him to hospital.
SP (Jalore) Harshvardhan Agarwalla said a video of the incident was made viral by somebody on Monday evening. "Though nobody did come forward to file an FIR, but we identified and contacted the victim and took an FIR from him", said Agarwalla, adding that six persons have been detained and investigation has been initiated into the matter.
On the other hand, a cross complaint against the man has been given by the girl, who is said to be a minor. "A counter complaint from the girl has also been given against the man alleging rape after which the police have filed an FIR against him under POCSO Act and further investigation will be initiated after recording of the statement of the girl," Agarwalla said.
