Upset over 'betrayal', man kills business partner's two kids in Jodhpur
NEW DELHI: Upset over his business partner's 'betrayal,' a 70-year-old man allegedly killed his business partner's two children and hanged their bodies in his rented house near his bangle factory in Boranada, Jodhpur.
The accused, Shyam Singh Bhati, had started the factory in partnership with Pradeep Devasai nine months ago, but Devasai left the partnership, causing financial losses to Bhati.
The victims, Tamanna alias Tannu (12) and Shivpal (8), were reported missing by their family on Saturday after they failed to return home from school on Friday.
DCP (West) Rajarshi Raj Verma said that Bhati, who had known Devasai for about 20 years, harbored resentment against his family and wanted to teach him a lesson.
"This led to Bhati harbouring resentment against Devasai's family and wanting to teach him a lesson. Seizing an opportunity, Bhati murdered Devasai's two children. Their bodies were found in his (Bhati's) rented house near his factory," said Verma.
Police have found a note at the scene, in which Bhati has purportedly admitted to killing the children due to the "betrayal" in their partnership and mentioned his intent to commit suicide.
Bhati is currently absconding, and a search has been initiated to nab him.
According to preliminary investigation, Bhati had invested money in the bangle factory, while Devasai worked there as a craftsman. Due to some disagreements, Devasai ended the partnership, resulting in financial losses to Bhati.
Devasai's family originally hails from Uttar Pradesh, while Bhati is from Phalodi, Rajasthan.
