JNT under-12 matches cancelled due to rain
Kanpur: JNT U-12 matches which were scheduled to be held on Friday could not be played due to morning showers. The organizers will reschedule them in the next few days.
Two matches--Restora XI Vs Anandeshwar XI and New India Assurance Vs IPM Carriers-- were fixed for Friday. The organizers had to postpone them due to showers. As per the rules of the event, points have to be shared between them but the organizers preferred to reschedule them with in an intention to give an opportunity to the young cricketers to play maximum matches.

Parents and children have welcomed the move. According to Amit Mishra, organizing secretary, the matches will be held as per fixture on May 27.
Saturday's fixture: Balmol XI Vs Rachit Finance Services XI and Restora XI Vs Anandeshwar Polymers XI.
Chess: Kumaresh Sriram of Kanpur has been selected to participate in the Under-19 School Games Federation India Chess championship to be held in New Delhi from June 6 to June 10.
According to Dilip Srivastava, secretary, Kanpur Chess Association, 44 teams from all over India will take part in this event. Only selected players of CBSE and other boards will appear in it.
Kumaresh was selected on the basis of performance in the U-19 ICSE Board Chess championship held in Amritsar last year. Kumaresh, a student of VSEC Kidwai Nagar, is the first player from Kanpur who has been selected for SGFI Chess U-19 championship. Only five players of ICSE Board belonging to Karnataka, West Bengal, UP, Kerala and Jharkhand have been selected.
Kabaddi: Ranvijay Singh Gehlot has been nominated as new secretary of Kanpur District Kabaddi Association at the meeting held in presence of observer Rajesh Kumar Singh, who is also secretary of UP State Kabaddi Association.
