Kochi:
Kerala Students Union (KSU) activists at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) staged a protest at the varsity on Wednesday seeking the dismissal of six Student Federation of India (SFI) activists who stand accused of attacking KSU workers on the campus on Tuesday. The varsity has suspended the six SFI activists pending inquiry following an alleged clash between the SFI and KSU at the School of Engineering, Cusat, on Tuesday.
The varsity also withheld the final results, pending inquiry, of two other SFI activists, who had completed their course, as they also got involved in the attack.
The KSU also claimed that three more SFI students, who were part of the attack, are yet to be booked by the police and the varsity is yet to initiate any action against them.
The SFI activists, who barged into the premises of the School of Engineering principal’s office, allegedly attacked the KSU members while they were waiting in front of the office as part of an inquiry into a clash that broke out between the two student outfits on the campus in May.
Even though a case has been registered by Kalamassery police against six identifiable SFI activists, they are yet to be arrested.
