Uttar Pradesh to a massive 285-run victory over
Mizoram in the Men's U23 State A Trophy at the DSEA Ground in Vadodara on Friday.
Batting first, UP had a shaky start as opener Shaurya Singh (2) was caught by Nasib off Naveen in the third over. In the 10th over, Ansh Tiwari (31) nicked one to wicketkeeper Mapuia off Malsawma. The skipper then steadied the innings, adding 138 runs for the third wicket with Swastik (57), who was later bowled by Naveen. Rituraj continued his aggressive form, forging a 117-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Siddharth before being caught by Nasib off Malsawma. Rituraj's explosive knock of 168 included 14 boundaries and 10 sixes.
After the skipper's dismissal, Siddharth carried the innings forward, completing his century and guiding the team to a formidable total of 408 runs. Siddharth remained unbeaten on 119 off 66 balls, smashing eight boundaries and nine sixes.
In reply, Mizoram were bowled out for a meager 123, with skipper Nunfela contributing a lone hand of 75 runs. Kunal Tyagi caused early damage, dismissing three top-order batsmen for just seven runs in his two overs. Rishabh Bansal wrapped up the innings, claiming four wickets for 14 runs in 4.5 overs. With this dominant win, UP secured four points.
