Lucknow: Religious leaders and saints strongly refuted allegations that arrangements for Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj were politically motivated. Some critics have accused Uttar Pradesh govt of using the mega spiritual gathering for political gains. Saints and akharas, however, emphasised the spiritual essence of the mela.
Swami Avdheshanand posted on X that spiritual essence of the
Kumbh Mela could not be experienced through a lens of political bias and the event was a sacred expression of India's highest spiritual traditions.
On the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya, an overwhelming number of devotees gathered at the Mela, leading the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad and prominent saints to initially decide on a symbolic bath to avoid overcrowding. However, due to efficient administration and spiritual commitment of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath, who is also the Gorakshpeethadhishwar, all akharas and saints were able to take part in the sacred Amrit Snan without any hindrance.
The saints expressed their deep appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for their unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Indian spiritual and cultural heritage. They also thanked UP govt and administration for ensuring arrangements at the Kumbh Mela were seamless and well-organised, allowing lakhs of devotees to participate in the holy rituals without difficulties.
Following Mauni Amavasya, next major event at Maha Kumbh 2025 is Amrit Snan on Basant Panchami on Monday, in which all akharas will participate as per the pre-determined schedule. The saints, along with devotees, expressed happiness and pride over the grand scale and spiritual magnificence of the ongoing Mahakumbh, calling it a historic and divine experience.
