Ludhiana: An elderly man was robbed of his cash and belongings near Kaind Canal Bridge Friday night. The accused also took away his scooter.
The victim Malkeet Singh, 85, is a resident of Alamgir village.
Malkeet was near the Kaind Bridge when the accused intercepted him and demanded money. When Malkit refused, he overpowered him and snatched his cash and mobile phone and fled on his scooter.
Malkit has lodged an FIR against the unidentified accused with Dehlon police.
Head constable Sabar Khan, who is investigating the case, said police are checking the footage of CCTVs installed near the bridge as the incident took place in an area where there are no cameras.
In a separate incident, Simranjit Singh's car was stolen on the same night. The 35-year-old had parked his car, with the ignition on, to get liquor from a place near Sangowal village. When he returned, the car was not there. Some unidentified person had driven away with it.
Simranjit is from Lohara village.
Investigating officer Tarsem Singh from Sadar police station said a case under Section 303 (2) (theft) of BNS has been lodged against the unidentified accused. Police are trying to trace the accused.
