Ludhiana: Two retired cops among three booked for using SUV recovered from robbers

The Ludhiana Rural police booked two retired inspectors and their accomplice for putting forged registration number plate on a recovered SUV and using it for personal purpose.

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana Rural police booked two retired inspectors and their accomplice for putting forged registration number plate on a recovered SUV and using it for personal purpose.
The Toyota Fortuner was carjacked from outside a marriage palace in village Dhatt of Mullanpur Dakha on the eve of Independence Day in 2017.
The FIR has been lodged against retired inspector Prem Singh, of South City who was SHO at Dakha police station, retired inspector Chamkaur Singh of Dakha and their accomplice Jagseer Singh of Mandi Mullanpur.

DySP Jasbinder Singh said that the snatched car was recovered by the police. However the accused cops changed its number plate and inspector Prem Singh kept it for his personal use. When the matter came to the light, inspector Prem Singh and inspector Chamkaur Singh, who then was and ASI and the investigating officer of the case, came up with a man named Jagseer Singh who in his statements claimed that the SUV was purchased by him from a car dealer and had given it to inspector Prem Singh.
However, during the investigation Jagseer could not provide details of the car dealer from whom he claimed to have purchased the SUV.
